A brain’s wiring can become data. That data can become a model. People are already connecting fly-brain models to simulated worlds and control tasks. Alongside that, researchers are learning to preserve and restore the function of organs. Whether those paths could ever bring a person back is an open question. Whether you would want that should be yours to answer.

A second life could mean a revived body, a digital emulation, or a reconstruction that only resembles you. Those are different propositions. You may refuse all of them, leave the door open, or set precise conditions.

A brain, traced.

FlyWire reconstructed the wiring of an adult fruit fly brain: 139,255 neurons. A wiring map is a research tool; it does not establish that a mind has been revived.
